WASHINGTON, D.C.
– Representative Ruben J. Kihuen issued the statement below following Attorney General Session's trip to the U.S.-Mexico border and his announcement directing federal prosecutors to prioritize cases involving immigration-related offenses:

"Once again, the Trump administration is choosing to double down on divisive rhetoric that flies in the face of who we are as a country. Attorney General Sessions and this administration have proven they are no friends to hardworking immigrants who make our country stronger each day. They may say they are deporting "criminals" but their own data shows that only 1 in 5 deportees have a criminal history. This is a poorly veiled attempt to mask the administration's true objective -- ripping apart immigrant families"
