WASHINGTON, D.C  – Today, Representative Ruben J. Kihuen released two video messages kicking off the Open Enrollment period which begins on November 1st and ends December 15th. Representative Kihuen has been working with community partners, health providers, and the Nevada Health Link on a number of outreach efforts to ensure the community has information about the Open Enrollment Period. The videos, in both English and Spanish, provide information for residents living in Nevada about health care options available during the Open Enrollment Period. To get covered during Open Enrollment, Nevadans can visit Nevadahealthlink.com or Healthcare.gov or call 1-855-7NVLINK (1-855-768-5465) to find enrollment assistance.

Background

Since being elected to Congress, Representative Kihuen has been working to improve the Affordable Care Act (ACA) to make health insurance more affordable and accessible for all Nevadans. Representative Kihuen cosponsored the Marketplace Certainty Act which would permanently fund cost-sharing reduction subsidies to help address market instability and make insurance plans more affordable for Nevadans. Additionally, the Congressman is a cosponsor of the State Public Option Act which would create a public insurance option, the Medicare Buy-In and Healthcare Stabilization Act which would allow Americans ages 50-64 to buy into Medicare, and the Affordable Coverage For More Americans Act which would eliminate the cliff that currently blocks many middle-class individuals and families from receiving financial help to purchase insurance through the exchanges.

Representative Kihuen's district office in North Las Vegas can help provide Nevadans with information about Open Enrollment and is working with community partners, health providers, and the Nevada Health Link on a number of outreach efforts including events, email, mail, and video outreach to ensure the community has information about the Open Enrollment period.
