WASHINGTON, D.C  – Today, Congressman Ruben J. Kihuen released the statement below following the vote on the House Republican tax plan:

“The House Republican tax bill is nothing more than a handout to big corporations and the wealthiest Americans that unfairly sticks working and middle-class families with the bill. The bill eliminates critical deductions for Americans burdened by student loan debt and medical expenses, sets the table for $1.5 trillion in cuts to Medicare and Medicaid, adds $1.5 trillion to our national debt, and ultimately will increase taxes by an average of $680 for 113,000 middle and low-income Nevada families. Rather than pass bipartisan tax reform to grow our economy for hardworking families, this bill is a shameless giveaway for special interests and corporations that leaves ordinary Americans empty-handed.”
